Description
The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, Michigan, opened to guests on July 10th in 1887. It is filled with old world hospitality and charm. It is also a National Historic Landmark.
You may walk here from the ferry boat docks, or take one of many horse drawn carriage taxi's.
You will feel like you are stepping back in time to a by-gone era while staying at this historical hotel! You'll love to sit in a rocking chair on what is the world’s longest porch, and just relax! You can view the Straits of Mackinac and the Mackinac Bridge from the porch and many of the rooms, as well as from the cupola which is two levels high in the center of the hotel.
In 1980, the hotel served as the location for the filming of Somewhere in Time, starring Christopher Reeve, Jane Seymour.
The Grand Hotel is open from May through October every year. A truly wonderful experience on Mackinac Island!
This view of the Grand Hotel is one of my favorites, and I hope you'll think so too!
